Description:

Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza are required by UK and International Law to be notified, described and controlled using strict control and consistent measures. This includes the creation of Protection and Surveillance zones around an infected premises where disease has been confirmed. Rules concerning sampling, slaughter, disposal, and cleansing and disinfection are implemented. Movements within and from these zones are restricted until the outbreak is cleared.

A surveillance Zone of a minimum of 10Km is drawn around any premises where HPAI is confirmed. Surveillance Zone rules are applied to this area.
