Description: Kaupunki-maaseutu-luokitus on paikkatietopohjainen luokitus, jossa Suomen alueet luokitellaan seitsemään alueluokkaan. Luokitus on toteutettu hallinnollisista rajoista riippumattomalla 250 metrin tilastoruutujaolla, joka mahdollistaa kuntia tarkemman alueiden luokittelun. Luokitus korvaa aiemmin käytössä olleet kaupunki-maaseutu-luokituksen ja maaseudun kolmijaon. Luokitus on muodostettu valtakunnalliseen karttaesitykseen soveltuvalla yleistystasolla, jossa eri alueluokat erottuvat selkeinä kokonaisuuksia koko maata kuvaavan kartan mittakaavassa. Luokituksen avulla saadaan tietoa erityyppisten alueiden kehityksestä koko maan tasolla.
