This layer shows the Scottish non-domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) from January 2013 up to October 2024. The non-domestic EPCs were accessed through the Scottish EPC Register hosted by Energy Saving Trust.(1) They were downloaded directly from the Scottish Government.(2)
EPCs indicate the energy efficiency of buildings and give recommendations for improving efficiency. One of the metrics EPCs provide is a rank from A to G with A being the most efficient. The Scottish Government guidance document specifies that, "[a]n EPC must be produced: when a new building has been constructed (at the completion stage of the building warrant process), when a building is to be sold [or] when a building is to be let to a new tenant on how to interpret."(3) The EPC requirement has been in force since the Energy Performance of Buildings (Scotland) Regulations 2008.(3)
The original EPC data included columns for ADDRESS1, ADDRESS2, POSTTOWN & POSTCODE which were provided by Royal Mail Group Limited. Royal Mail holds copyright over this data, and while the purposes of the Climate Action Map appear to align with the permitted uses specified in Royal Mail’s copyright notice, for the avoidance of doubt these columns have been removed. To find a specific property in the map, please use the search tool in the upper righthand corner of the map. If the property you are looking for is in a multi-story building with multiple EPCs at one location, you can use the Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN) to identify the property. You can use https://www.findmyaddress.co.uk/ to find the UPRN for the address.
